Amazing chasing action sums up the past week of Formpro Amazing Chase qualifying with final field leader board changes occurring at all three qualifying venues. Who could ever imagine that Dyna Dave would be knocked off his top Addington qualifying position after his recent 520m track record?

Tuesday late afternoon Addington racing is all about C1 racing. Track records are not set in these low grade fixtures. Well, that is unless you front up with an exciting chasing prospect named Dyna Elwyn.

It took ten years for the Addington greyhound 520m track record to be broken. It has taken just twelve days for the record to be broken again. The Craig Roberts prepared Dyna Dave lowered the long time 29.78s 520m record held by Miss Koonarwarra when he skipped through his July 12 520m assignment in 29.75s.

On Tuesday afternoon Roberts, who was celebrating his birthday, returned to Addington with Dyna Elwyn who proceeded to shatter his kennel mate’s track record when he clocked a turbo charged 29.67s time, which obviously propelled him to the top of the Addington Amazing Chase leader board. It also provides Roberts with a vice like grip with the leading three times posted at the Christchurch headquarters.

Dyna Dave with his recent 29.75s 520 track record and his kennel mate Dyna Weslyn with her 25.81s occupy the second and third possies. Dyna Elwyn had taken the third position away from the Dave and Jean Fahey prepared Pirate’s Curse (30.10s) when he delivered his Friday 520m win in 29.92s.

The previous evening Dyna Weslyn delivered another slippery 520m time when she clocked 29.87s for her eighth straight career victory when claiming her C3 win. The cumulative winning margin for her eight wins has been a staggering 78.5 lengths, an average winning margin of 9.8 lengths per victory. She now holds the Addington ballot possie for an Amazing Chase final field position.

Hatrick Raceway

Taking over the second Hatrick qualifying position and with it a final Amazing Chase field position (at this stage) was the Lisa Cole prepared Ask King Jeff. The 29.97s 520m time he clocked when he won Friday’s C4/5 520m event saw him surging into the current second possie. He had previously returned a 30.48s time. He relegated his kennel mate Bigtime Tears (30.06s) back into the second reserve position for the final, with Cawbourne Krusty holding the third possie with her 29.98s clock for Matt Roberts.

The Angela Turnwald prepared Waitohi made her NZ race debut on Friday evening in a C2/3 520m event where after she made a moderate start, she was sighted flying home late to clock 30.60s, which obviously is a fair way off the required pace at this venue.

The Lisa Cole trained Don’t Knocka Gee was way down on her personal best Hatrick 30.08s 520m time when she didn’t improved on her official 30.38s qualifying time in the opening C2 520m event. Cawbourne Trixy solo trialed in 30.30s for her trainer Matt Roberts.

Bigtime Paddy returned 29.99s when he delivered his $11,470 NZRS Advanced win and he maintains his place on top of the Hatrick Amazing Chase lead board at this venue with his earlier 29.92s clock for Cole.

His kennel mate Bigtime Tears didn’t improved on her 30.06s time when finishing second while the Marcie Flipp prepared Idol Tom knocked a whisker of his previous 30.19s time and he now sits in fifth equal place with Dirk Bale at this venue with a 30.18s time. There was no time improvement from Bigtime Levi in this event. Others not progressing up the lead board in the race won by Ask King Jeff was Nature’s Gent, Bigtime Vanessa and the luckless Cawbourne Krusty.

Manukau Stadium

Sunday’s Manukau washout meeting was duly completed on Monday which saw the Karen Walsh prepared Dusty Gambler solo trial over 527m and he went to the top of the Manukau Amazing Chase table with his 30.50s time.

The previous leader was Westworld and he came out in his open class 527m event to promptly reclaim his top possie for his trainer Ben Craik when he stylishly won the event in 30.47s. His kennel mate Cameo Syd marginally improved his time to 30.56s when finishing second. He now sits in the ballot position at this venue with the Addington third place time holder.

Other Amazing Chase News

Make sure you secure your place at the Hatrick Raceway for the July 27 final. There will be numerous on course activities, hosted by compere Andre Neil which will raise additional funds for the benefiting Jigsaw Wanganui charity.

The $10,000 Visit Wanganui Amazing Chase consolation is a penalty free 520m event open to the greyhounds from the three venues who posted Amazing Chase qualifying times. The field will be selected in the following order: The two official Amazing Chase reserves; the next two quickest time holders at the three venues, with the race reserves being provided from the next available Hatrick qualifiers.

The Week Ahead

The final week of qualifying for the Formpro Amazing Chase is underway with the Manukau Stadium hosting the last qualifying day 0n Sunday. It certainly looks to be the venue to be at for those who want to annex a last minute final field position.

Qualifying appears to be completed at Addington, unless there are 520m solo trials, as there are no Amazing Chase nominated greyhounds contesting any of the Thursday or Friday Addington 520m races.

Hatrick racing on Friday evening sees a potential enthralling clash between the venue Amazing Chase leader Bigtime Paddy matching his paws with the Addington second place holder Dyna Dave in the race 10 C4/5 520m event. Also included in the field are Ask King Jeff, Bigtime Vanessa, Bigtime Tears and Idol Tom, while Cawbourne Trixy is the first reserve.

Cawbourne Trixy has secured a race start from off the reserves bench in the race 5 C4 520m event. She will clash with her kennel mate and venue third place time holder Cawbourne Krusty in this race. The capable, but erratic chaser Don’t Knocka Gee has drawn the one trap for her race 2 C2 520m event.

There is no open class 527m race drawn at Manukau on Sunday afternoon. The only Amazing Chase nominated greyhound that is drawn to race is Dusty Gambler and he will contest the race 11 C3/4 527m event

However, it is anticipated that there will be plenty of prerace meeting Amazing Chase 527m qualifying action with a number of visiting trainers looking to snatch final field positions at this venue via their charges respective 527m solo trials.

The Formpro Amazing Chase box draw will be drawn live on the TAB Trackside Dogzone program next Monday morning at just after 11.30 am.

It has been indicated that the classy Group 1 winning greyhounds Avenger Bale (left) and Nature’s Gent may be sighted 527m solo trialing at Manukau on Sunday afternoon
