Bigtime Wendle has developed the really healthy Monday afternoon tactic of pinging away from the Manawatu 457m traps. It was using that asset that saw this Lisa Cole trained greyhound lead her Kiwi bred rivals all the way when she cruised to her comfortable 25.95s victory in Monday’s $12,000 NZRS Advanced final.

Bigtime Wendle, who a member of the January 2016 whelped talented Fabregas – Allegro Star litter, was always in control of this feature event, never being seriously challenged at any stage. She was credited with a 1.25 length winning margin.
Kennelmate Bigtime Levi strongly pushed forward from trap eight and he was always going to be a factor in the race finish. So it proved as this son of Spring Gun and Bigtime Karen used his known strength to claim the runners up prize.
Bigtime Twinkle had won her heat for this final the week before with her litter sister Bigtime Wendle being the other heat winner. On this occasion Twinkle jumped just in behind the pace and she remained in a forward position to secure the third placing a further length a half behind in what turned into a busy finish for that placing with another kennel mate and her older half brother Bigtime Doug (Cosmic Rumble – Allegro Star) being in close attendance for his fourth place finish.
It was a breeding clean sweep for Brendon and Lisa Cole as they benefit from the full $12,000 stake attached to this feature event which further illustrates the hugely successful breeding, rearing and training operation to which they have dedicated their activities.
For example Allegro Star, who was a smart open class sprinter in her own right, has been a prolific producer with numerous members from the three litters she has whelped to Collision, Cosmic Rumble and now Fabregas attaining open class racing status.
Bigtime Wendle has always displayed early pace, however it has been her tendency to race out in the middle of the track which has cost her earlier bigger race success. For example she has qualified for three Hatrick Group 1 520m finals. The manner that she exploded from the traps in both of her NZRS races here says that she’s going to quickly build on the 13 wins, 15 minor placings and the $36,799 in stake earnings that her 40 career has yielded her too date.
