It can be described as the perfect staying debut. The Ray Adcock prepared Perfect Result stepped up in race distance when he contested a 645m event at the Addington Raceway on Friday for the first time which resulted in a stunning 37.60s pace making victory. His time lowered the recently set Addington 645m track record.

Perfect Result seized the early race lead after hopping away from the four trap. He was never challenged for that lead during his power packed gallop as he cruised to the judge holding a comfortable six length margin over his rivals.
The ink would have barely dried from the 37.68s time that the real promising stayer Dyna Weslyn had inscribed into the Christchurch GRC record books on August 2 after she had broken a two way prior deadlock on that record.
Adcock wasn’t surprised about his charges effortless win, saying “I’ve always rated Perfect Result as a potential stayer – his racing style had it (stayer) written all over him. He’s a big dog who has been jarring up. It was a case of waiting for him to mature before sending him over a longer distance.
“It was very satisfying seeing his time. I’ll put him into the Kingston Cup heats (Group 2, with 732m heats scheduled for Thursday). I’m not too sure about the 732m trip, but he’s ready to have a go at it now,” advised Adcock about the son of Barcia Bale and Andrea who he races in partnership with his long time kennel client Ray Amer. They have now enjoyed 12 wins delivered from Perfect Result’s 40 career races. He placed on a further 12 occasions, meaning he has contributed around $31,300 to his owner’s bank accounts.

The Kingston Cup is a long established 732m staying event which has the names of some outstanding stayers engraved on the trophy. Hopefully there’ll be sufficient nominations to run heats as the talent pool of stayers is particularly exciting at the moment even though last year’s winner Ring The Bell (also trained by Adcock) has been retired.
Perfect Result has announced his credentials as an exciting stayer, even though he hasn’t raced over the extreme race distances yet. Exactly the same comment can be made for the Craig Roberts trained Dyna Weslyn. She has rich staying blood flowing through her veins. Then include in the equation the dual Group race winning stayer Dusty Gambler, who was a potent Hatrick 37.95s 645m winner on Friday evening for his conditioner Karen Walsh.
What is it in the Canterbury air over winter? Friday’s record breaking time was the fourth occasion than an Addington track record has been bettered over recent times, meaning that CEO Tony Music’s rubber has had a fair amount of use.
First up it the long standing 30.78s 520m track record that was lowered by Dyna Dave in what was the first of three new track figures that greyhounds prepared from the Roberts kennels achieved. He completed his assignment in a real smart 29.75s. It wasn’t even two weeks later when Dyna Elwyn lowered his kennel mates track record when he delivered his searing 25.68s 520m time. Then it was Dyna Weslyn who joined the record breaking party with her 37.68s 645m track record win.
