Bradley Beal trade: Suns land star guard as Chris Paul heads to Wizards in blockbuster deal

The Washington Wizards are trading Bradley Beal to the Phoenix Suns in a blockbuster deal that includes Chris Paul heading to Washington, CBS Sports' Bill Reiter confirmed Sunday. Beal, who signed a five-year, $251 million max extension contract last offseason, has a no-trade clause in his contract that somewhat limited his trade market. However, he ultimately proved willing to waive that no-trade clause to join a contender in the Suns, who also acquired Kevin Durant at last year's trade deadline and already had superstar Devin Booker in place.

Lakers rumors: L.A. has strong interest in Chris Paul if he is waived, could pair him with D'Angelo Russell

Chris Paul and LeBron James have been close friends since before they reached the NBA, but they've never had a chance to play on the same team outside of All-Star and Olympic settings. But now, with both of them nearing the ends of their legendary careers, their chances of teaming up appear stronger than ever. Paul's contract is only partially guaranteed, and reports have indicated that the Suns are trying to trade it, and should they fail, could simply waive him for the financial savings. If Paul is indeed waived, the Lakers are interested in signing him, according to The Athletic's Jovan Buha.

Warriors could trade Jonathan Kuminga or another young player for high draft pick, per report

At just 20 years old, Jonathan Kuminga has already endured a roller coaster of an NBA journey. The No. 7 overall pick in the 2021 draft, Kuminga displayed athleticism and promise as a rookie that convinced the Golden State Warriors that he could be a much larger part of their rotation during the 2022-23 season. Instead he received sporadic playing time, falling out of the rotation entirely at points during the regular season and playoffs.

Bradley Beal trade rumors: Six likeliest destinations for Wizards All-Star

Bradley Beal is one of the trickier trade candidates to hit the market in recent memory. All-Star guards that can create their own shot deep in the playoffs are extraordinarily rare and quite valuable, but that's just about the only thing Beal has going for him at this point in his career.

NBA Finals: Bruce Brown is playing his way into a payday the Nuggets probably can't match

Bruce Brown has been overlooked for his entire NBA career. He fell to the second round of the 2018 NBA Draft, where he was taken by the Pistons and shipped out of Detroit for another second-round pick two years later. He flourished in an unconventional role with the Brooklyn Nets, but when Ben Simmons was acquired to play a more expensive version of that same role, his time in Brooklyn came to an end. His free-agent market was tepid. A total of 31 players earned more money than he did on the open market last season when he settled for Denver's taxpayer mid-level exception.
